Tips for Universal Studios Singapore

I know when I say that I am visiting Universal Studios Singapore on Christmas day, you will think that I am mad. Going to most theme parks on a public holiday means that there will be a crowd, a really big crowd to be exact. The easiest way to by pass the line for the rides is definitely to pay more for the express pass. If you are visiting on a non-peak day, then you have no worries at all. This post will be useless for you then.

At approximately 9am on Christmas day 2015, we arrived at the entrance of Universal Studios Singapore. There was quite a long queue as expected already. There was a guy selling express pass at the queuing area. Without any hesitation, I called out to the guy and got us both the express pass. There was actually a separate lane for express pass holder to enter the park. It was significantly shorter. The Express Pass was $70 and the price is different on different days.

Firstly, do take note of the showtimes that you would like to catch as well and the meet & greet time if you are into the meet & greet. Then, proceed to the rides. Try not to waste too much time taking pictures when you just enter the theme park unless it is in your to-do-list. If you asked me the sequence of rides to go on, this will be my answer.

1) Transformers The Ride (3D)
2) Revenge of the Mummy
3) Battlestar Gallactica - Human
4) Battlestar Gallactica - Cylon
5) Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure*

Transformers The Ride

Revenge of the Mummy

*Get a poncho ($4) or you will be soaked! Alternatively, they have these drying pods ($5 per use) that comfortably fit in two person to dry you up quicker.

If the queue stated is less than 30 minutes, do not use your express pass unless you have the unlimited one which will cost quite a lot more. My favourite ride would be the Mummy one and Transformers. To be very honest, the rides here are not that scary but you will still enjoy it a lot. The Mummy ride is not your typical indoor roller coaster but I better not give you any spoilers otherwise it will be ruined.

We managed to go on the Transformers, Mummy, and Human ride twice that day. During the morning, the queue was still bearable at less than 30 minutes wait. Save the Jurassic park ride for later in the day unless you don't mind walking in wet shoes the rest of the day. Anyway do not worry about the heat as the queue area is covered and has fans working. The queuing area at the Mummy's ride was actually very cooling.

Some kids ride that I enjoyed are

1) Enchanted Airways
2) Puss in  Boots Giant Adventure
3) Sesame Street Spaghetti Chase

Puss in Boots Giant Journey

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase

If you hate queuing up, don't worry too much as the entire place is filled with really cool decorations.

Shows not to be missed:

1) WaterWorld
2) Sesame Street
3) Shrek 4D

Donkey Live is quite amusing too as everything is live and spontaneous. Most importantly, the audience gets to participate in the show as well. I guess kids will like this show a lot. Going for the shows is a good way to let your feet rest a little. Despite wearing sport shoes, my feet was quite sore after an entire day of walking and standing. It felt really good to sit down and enjoy a show.

So the store which was most packed was none other than the MINION store. I bought a Minion water tumbler from that store just because I could not resist how CUTE it is!

Anyway, prepare to be tired out at the end of the day. Last but not least, enjoy your trip there!
