Strato @ The Troika Review

The Troika has been quite a famous place for fine dining with Kampachi, Acem Bar & Coffee, Cantaloupe, Fuego, and also Strato all under the same roof. Strato is a Italian restaurant with a breathtaking view of Kuala Lumpur. Arriving at level 23A, you will be greeted and asked which restaurant are you dining at. The view is amazing at Claret Bar with the stunning stairways up leading to Strato.

Now that you have seen the stairs, ladies keep your mini skirts or mini dresses in your wardrobe and also your killer platform heels in your shoe rack. The view here is just amazing be it day or night. We came here during the evening when the sun was still up and the restaurant looked just as beautiful as it was when it got dark outside.

If you are lucky, you get to sit at the window facing the amazing city view. Do remember to make reservations especially if you are coming on a weekend. Otherwise you might just not get the chance to dine here as tables are quite limited in this small space. Yes, there aren't much spaces between tables.

See what I told you? Beautiful view anytime of the day. A little more space between tables would however be much appreciated although the restaurant is pretty small. So do you prefer the day view or night view? My vote would indecisively go to the day view. I love natural lighting. Anyway the stairs are extra pretty during Christmas season!

Fresh Mussels & Clams in White Wine, Toasted Garlic Bread Crumbs & Country Bread (RM55)

Although this is an Italian place, they do not serve bread with olive oil and vinegar before your meal. The starters we had was just okay. It came with two pieces of crispy bread on top of those mussels and clams. Nothing really fantastic here as the taste is quite subtle.

Pan Seared Duck Breast (RM60)

My highlight of this meal is this duck breast dish that was heavenly! The meat was cooked to perfection and it pairs really well with the beans on the bottom. Definitely something that you have to get here.

Wagyu Beef Cheek & Trotter Ravioli (RM55)

This ravioli or as my mom calls it Ang Moh Dumpling is really good as well. The beef literally melts in your mouth and it is a dish that fills you up as well. The taste is really rich as well.

Squid Ink and Calamari Pizza (RM45)

Strato's pizzas are thin crust which is a plus point. I don't think I have ever encounter a squid ink pizza so far. Not sure if all their pizzas are soft on the inside or its the squid ink that made it pizza base soft. This dish unfortunately did not stand out as much as the other two.

When you are done with your mains, you could choose to have your dessert down at Claret bar. Smart move to get more patrons into the restaurant by getting those done with their food to clear the table earlier.

Down at Claret Bar, there is not much crowd here. There is actually a balcony that you can hang out at while enjoying the view.

There you go. View from the balcony. If you don't mind not having air conditioning, there are actually tables here for you to dine in.

Vanilla Dome with White Chocolate Crumble & Brandy Sponge (RM25)

Cheesecake (RM25)

I cannot decide which dessert I like more. The cheesecake is definitely densely packed with flavours while the texture of the vanilla dome is more interesting.

Overall, this is a place with good view, reasonable priced fine dining food that taste good.

Will I revisit? YES
