Ramen Taiko Japanese Cuisine @ Mon't Kiara Shoplex Review

Ramen Taiko is hidden gem within the Mon't Kiara area. Located just nearby the 1 Mon't Kiara shopping mall is the Mon't Kiara Shoplex where Ramen Taiko can be found. Trees are planted around the shoplex, giving a relaxing vibe.

Entrance from the open area

Entrance from the inside

There are two entrances to this restaurant. One from the front facing the main road, another from within the centre shoplex. Both equally beautifully decorated.
The name Ramen Taiko suggested that their signature dishes are ramen noodles. Of course we came here to try their ramen. The menus of this restaurant are on tablets, rather than traditional printed menus. Each of us got a tablet and we started scrolling through the menu.

Notice that their ramen goes beyond just the typical pork based broth ones served in most ramen places. It would be nice if the menu elaborated more on each dish such as what is in the ramen.

Not a ramen lover? No problem. Their selection of food here is pretty awesome. Above is part of their menu which is not ramen related. I always love rolls from Japanese restaurants although they are quite pricey most of the time. We ordered a Rainbow Roll to share.

Rainbow Roll (RM25.90)

The Rainbow Roll has avocado on it with an assortment of sashimi. I am surprised not to see a salmon on it but it is okay since it still tasted pretty good.

Salmon Kabuto Ramen  (RM24.90)

I guess you could already tell that I LOVE salmon. What's more perfect than salmon ramen? This reminds me of Chinese fish head noodles, which is comfort food to me. I must say this is a little disappointing as the noodles are not up to my expectations with a kind of odd taste. However, the broth was really good without being fishy.

Nagasaki Champon (RM21.90)

This is their seafood ramen which is again a little let down. The broth again was nice but the noodles are just like my bowl of salmon ramen.

Taiko Chashu Ramen (RM22.90)

The Taiko Chashu Ramen is a pork based ramen which came with Tamago eggs. The eggs are quite good and the chashu slices are definitely something to look out for. This is the same case with the other two ramen we had with the noodles having an odd taste.

Will I revisit? Yes but not really for their ramen.
