Afternoon Tea @ STG Tea House Cafe, Ipoh

Thinking of spending an afternoon like a English royal sipping on tea? STG is the place to go if you are in Ipoh. Ipoh has quite a number of eateries located in bungalows which are really beautiful. This is not the STG located in Ipoh town that I am referring to but the one in Taman Chateau. STG is the acroynm for Sabah Tea Garden if you are wondering.

Apart from afternoon tea, they also serve main courses like pastas, steak  and burgers. We decided to come here for tea instead rather than dinner to enjoy the ambiance here in the afternoon. Don't worry, the air conditioning indoors is perfect. Not too cold that you will shiver and also not too warm that you will sweat.

Upon entering, you will be greeted by this beautiful counter filled with cakes and macaroons.

There is a dining area upstairs as well apart from the ground floor area. When we were there, the ground floor is already packed with diners so we were ushered upstairs instead.

Since we were there during Chinese New Year, they actually have a special menu for the festive season. But I don't really see how this is special for Chinese New Year as the menu has got absolutely nothing related to the festival. Anyway we got the Smoked Duck Pasta in Carbonara. You also can opt for aglio olio style.

Smoked Duck Carbonara Pasta (RM28)

For RM28, this pasta is sure to come with a generous amount of smoked duck. The carbonara sauce is really enjoyable as it was the right consistency while the smoke duck really pairs well with the sauce.

Afternoon Tea for Two (RM58)

The afternoon tea for two came in two tiers while the one for four pax is served in three tiers. On the bottom, we have scones and sanwiches while on the top, we have cakes and macaroon.

The scones were a little too dense for me liking but the passion fruit cheesecake was really delicious. I love how the sourness of the passion fruit balances out the sweetness of the cheesecake. The macaroon was too sweet but I guess this is how most macaroons taste like.

You can choose to upgrade you tea to the STG Original natural flavoured tea or the STG Tea Collection flavours. Our choices of tea were cinnamon and Angel's Kiss. 

Frankly speaking, I only chose Angel's Kiss because of its name. Turns out, it was really a nice pot of tea to sip on just like its name suggested. The cinnamon flavoured one was not really my cup of tea although I do like the taste of cinnamon. 

Don't forget to take some pictures before leaving as this place is just filled with greens. A great place to visit be it for afternoon tea or even dinner time especially when the staffs here are really friendly and well mannered.
