Dim Sum & Co.@Publika Review

(CLOSED)
If you always miss dim sum because you cannot drag yourself out of bed in the morning, no worries. If you are a Muslim and can't seem to find any pork and lard free dim sum place, no worries. If you like to have beer with dim sum, no worries.

Dim Sum & Co. at Publika got you guys covered as they serve pork and lard free dim sum all day all night from 8am till midnight! From 8am till 4pm, they operate as Dim Sum & Co.. When the clock hits 4pm, the lights are dimmed and they operate under The Beer Factory Express where alcohol is served here along with dim sum!

Since they operate till night, they have a bright signboard right in front their place so you will not miss them in the dark. To get here, you have to walk out from the mall passing by MPH then take a left turn and I am sure you will spot this signboard by then.
It may be a little odd to eat dim sum at night for some but I assure you that it is as good as eating it for breakfast. Of course, the early birds still can enjoy them here in the morning as well. Coming into the restaurant at night, the vibe here is pretty chill with the dim lighting. Reading the menu is a little hard but still manageable thanks to the menu being bright and colourful.

As you would have noticed, the pricing here is very affordable especially if you compared with most food here in Publika.  All items here are priced RM9.90 and below. It gets even better since the price here is already GST inclusive and you do not have to pay for that 10% service charge.

Since the restaurant was dim at night, I requested for day time picture of how it looks like here. Judging from the picture, the ambiance is definitely suitable for family dining.

You can also choose to sit in the outdoor dining area which is also catered to those who smoke.

Clockwise from top left: Szechuan Dumpling (RM8.90), Siew Mai (RM7.90), Homemade Fish Ball (RM6.90), Oriental Chicken Wings (RM6.90)

My favourite was no doubt the Szechuan Dumplings which were served in vinegar. It was really flavourful and the thickness of the dumpling skin was just right.

Dip the fish balls in their homemade sweet sauce for that extra kick of flavour. Another favourite for us were the chicken wings drenched in herb sauce. I love that they incorporated kei chi into this dish.

Clockwise from top left: Fluffy Yam Bites (RM9.90), Loh Mai Gai (RM7.90), Molten Charcoal Bun (RM8.90), Crispy Avo Roll (RM9.90)

The crispy avo roll was another dish to highlight. This is not what you will normally find in other dim sum places as most dim sum places do not have any avocado dishes. Crispy on the outside, soft in the inside, this is something I enjoyed a lot.

If you have kids, go for the molten charcoal bun otherwise I would skip it. I wished the bun was thinner so that I could taste more of the salted egg custard.

The loh mai gai was also quite good. It was not overly oily unlike how you would get in some places. The rice is soft and flavourful.

Overall, this is a place that I will come back again for its reasonably priced dim sums. I also think that being pork and lard free means giving a chance of Muslims to taste more of our Chinese food where good halal dim sum is quite rare here.
