Tea Press @ Da Men USJ

Bored of English afternoon tea? Why not go for a Japanese afternoon tea instead at Tea Press? Tea Press opened doors at Uptown awhile ago but now you can also find them in Da Men, the new shopping mall in USJ.  Last Sunday, I decided to check out the new mall with my boyfriend since it seems to have Japanese style boutiques there. We stumbled upon Tea Press during the afternoon and thought it would be nice to just chill out. Anyway this is just a short post as we didn't order much that afternoon.

Afternoon Tea @ STG Tea House Cafe, Ipoh

Thinking of spending an afternoon like a English royal sipping on tea? STG is the place to go if you are in Ipoh. Ipoh has quite a number of eateries located in bungalows which are really beautiful. This is not the STG located in Ipoh town that I am referring to but the one in Taman Chateau. STG is the acroynm for Sabah Tea Garden if you are wondering.

Fifth Palate @ Kota Damansara Review

A few days ago, I decided to treat my very wonderful mother to a meal. After seeing good reviews on Facebook and several websites, I decided to bring her to Fifth Palate. I am always intrigued by creative dishes like their very famous Drunken Frenchman. Sweet and savoury together just sound so awesome. We arrived there around 2 something and parking was PLENTIFUL. Of course, it might be a little hard for some to locate this cafe located in Encorp Strand Garden Office. Do follow the signs put up by the cafe.

Ipoh Street Food : Sun Seng Fatt, Dai Shu Geok, Tuck Kee

Every year I would visit Ipoh without fail during Chinese New Year. This gives me an opportunity to explore the food around town which I truly enjoy. But going back during the festive seasons also means that many places will be closed. Anyway I still managed to try out a few famous hawker/street food. For the first  time ever unlike the previous years, we skipped going to the ever crowded dim sum places for breakfast and went for a good old bowl of curry noodles instead. For another morning, we head for yong tau fu and assam laksa and we stopped by for some hor fun for supper one night.

Jose & Deli @ French Hotel, Ipoh

I was back in my hometown Ipoh to visit my granny during this Chinese New Year. Since on the first day, most places run by the local Chinese are closed we decided to have our breakfast in French Hotel near the Store. Walking into Jose & Deli, it felt very hipster and bright just like most cafes back in KL.

Flavourest Cafe @ Zenith Kelana Jaya Review

I am a sucker for anything cute. Don't judge me. Usually, themed cafes like Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe in Sunway Pyramid charges a premium on their food and beverages but not Flavourest Cafe. This bear themed cafe is sure to attract kids, young and old. I am quite surprised that Flavourest Cafe isn't quite popular. You should drop by this cafe if you are going to Paradigm Mall since it is just a stones throw away from Flavourest located in Zenith Corporate Park.

Strato @ The Troika Review

The Troika has been quite a famous place for fine dining with Kampachi, Acem Bar & Coffee, Cantaloupe, Fuego, and also Strato all under the same roof. Strato is a Italian restaurant with a breathtaking view of Kuala Lumpur. Arriving at level 23A, you will be greeted and asked which restaurant are you dining at. The view is amazing at Claret Bar with the stunning stairways up leading to Strato.

Menya Musashi @ One Utama Review

If you know me well, this is my FAVOURITE ramen place in Klang Valley. Weekdays or weekends, Menya Musashi is most of the time full house. Menya Musashi is located in Isetan and just right next to another ramen outlet, Hokkaido Gantetsu which is less popular.

There's already a crowd outside at around 6.30pm so come early or you might have to wait for seats.

Kid Friendly Benbino @ Publika Review

Benbino is a fun restaurant in Publika which is also under the  management of BIG's Group. Being a kid friendly restaurant, there is a playground area outside of the indoor seating. This place is perfect for those weekend family outing with kids! If you have a small appetite, this is also a place for you where kid size meals are served here. Looks like BIG is taking over Publika huh?

Look at  the giraffe! By the way, that is not a slide on the right side but a spiral stairs which leads up to  Benbino. It really look like a big slide for kids to slide down from the first floor.

Bankara Ramen @ Avenue K Review

Spotted Bankara Ramen at Avenue K few months ago when I was there after a meal at Wondermama X. I looked online for some reviews and it seems to be quite a good ramen place so I know I have to try it myself. Bankara  Ramen is located just beside the escalator on Level 2.

Ramen Taiko Japanese Cuisine @ Mon't Kiara Shoplex Review

Ramen Taiko is hidden gem within the Mon't Kiara area. Located just nearby the 1 Mon't Kiara shopping mall is the Mon't Kiara Shoplex where Ramen Taiko can be found. Trees are planted around the shoplex, giving a relaxing vibe.

Entrance from the open area

Entrance from the inside

There are two entrances to this restaurant. One from the front facing the main road, another from within the centre shoplex. Both equally beautifully decorated.

Sg. Besi Wan Tan Mee Review

On some days, I just crave for some good wanton noodle (a.k.a wan tan mee a.k.a. wantan mee). Which spelling is the right one? That is a hard question. A plate  of good wan tan mee need to be springy and chewy and not to forget the tasty dumplings.

This stall has been around for many years in Sg. Besi. Although it is no longer the hot new thing in town, their business is still really good. Wan Tan Mee Sg. Besi is quite easy to locate as it is just along Jalan Sg. Besi. Parking space is also available beside the stall but do keep in mind that parking spaces are limited.

Hokkaido Santouka Ramen @ Pavilion Review

Ramen outlets have been sprouting in the KL food scene. Before this ramen craze started, I have never liked ramen because those served in Japanese restaurants are not good at all. Surprisingly, I have occasional ramen crave especially on rainy days. What better than slurping  into  hot bowl of ramen?

I am sure some of you have heard of Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, a ramen placce located in Pavilion's Tokyo Street. This ramen place is quite popular actually on the internet so I know I need  to try it. Maybe I will find the best ramen here in KL?

Real Food @ 1 Mon't Kiara Review

Real Food is a vegetarian cafe which also sells vegetarian groceries. This Singapore cafe also expanded their business in Penang with an outlet in Straits Quay before stepping foot here in Kuala Lumpur as well. This cafe is not only meat-free but their food are also free from processed ingredients, artificial preservatives and also trans-fat.

Ashley's by Living Food Bangsar Review

Ashley's by Living Food is all about healthy, clean eating. This restaurant is jam packed with patrons during lunch and dinner hours although it serves a niche market. Vegans, vegetarian, pescetarian, or meat eater, rejoice as they have something for all of you. You don't often find places serving quinoa but Ashley's have it for you! If you have not heard of quinoa, it is a type of highly nutritional grain and it is gluten free as well! I have been cooking quinoa at home myself many months ago to substitute rice and pasta.

This is quinoa.

Enough of quinoa now. Located along Jalan Telawi 3, it is pretty hard to find parking here as there are many other famous eateries around here as well. Good luck on finding parking.
A very clean looking signboard.

By the way, it is located just beside Inside Scoop. Yummy. I LOVE their ice creams! During our visit, we had to wait around 15 minutes for a seat since the restaurant was full.

Jersey Jack Gelato Review

I love ice cream. Again, who doesn't? But I am always eager to try unusual ice cream flavours. The nasi lemak gelato by Cielo Dolci is quite well known among foodies but have you ever heard of salmon and wasabi gelato? Yes you did not read wrongly. Salmon, the common fish in western and Japanese cuisine and wasabi, the green thingy you eat with your sushi. This peculiar flavored gelato is available at Jersey Jack Gelato, a hidden ice cream parlour located in Bukit Bintang among rows of  really old houses.

The Good Batch @ Damansara Uptown Review

The Good Batch has been around for quite some time and it is still a hot cafe with loads of patrons. Breakfast items are what gave The Good Batch such popularity. Recently, they revamped their menu to give their dishes a better spin. Lets proceed with breakfast for two, shall we?

Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe Review

Even before its opening, Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe have been causing a lot of hype on the internet. I, a girly girl of course was super excited ever since I heard about it. This is the first Hello Kitty Cafe ever in Malaysia! I wanted badly to go during the day but too bad I only managed to visit this cafe at night. Well, the cafe is still pretty at night with its pinkish decor. You can easily spot this cafe from outside of Sunway Pyramid. It is just beside Cafe Benne.

Hello Kitty Tissues

Apparently, there is two floors at this cafe. The ground floor is for those having cakes and tea while the upper floor is for main meal. We went there for our dinner so we were told to head upstairs. But before I went upstairs, I took pictures downstairs.

Seating area on the lower floor.

Cafe Lafayette @ Damansara Uptown Review

Cafe Lafayette is quite a new boy in town located in the competitive Damansara Utama Uptown area. Many cafes  have been sprouting here and Cafe Lafayette  is one of them. This new boy is pretty popular in social media like Instagram and Facebook. No reason not to pop by this first floor cafe. Take the flight of stairs up beside Fat Spoon Cafe and there you are!

Cubs & Cups Cafe Review (Pet Friendly)

?
Pet friendly cafes seems to be mushrooming in the recent months in Klang Valley. One of the hottest is definitely Cubs & Cups located in Desa Sri Hartamas. This is a cafe run by Koreans BTW. Having a toy poodle myself means that it is A MUST for me to bring this cheeky fella to meet some new friends.
