Ye Olde Smokehouse @ Fraser's Hill

Ye Olde Smokehouse is a place people associate with afternoon tea. But do you know that they also have a full fledged menu serving food from breakfast till dinner time. Also, they have two branches in Fraser's Hill and Bangsar apart from the most famous one in Cameron Highland.

Wedding Dessert Tables/Candy Bars

Planning for your dinner reception or a tea party for your wedding? I guess you would most probably be thinking of getting a dessert table. Those pretty looking tables filled with cute macaroons and cupcakes that will most probably make those with a sweet tooth drool! It is a great way for your guest to enjoy some snacks before your wedding dinner or it may also be dessert for those having a buffet style reception. Since we are having a buffet luncheon for our R.O.M (registration of marriage) ceremony, it will be a plus to have a dessert table/candy bar. So these are some that I have found.

Wedding preparation is no easy task unless if you were to hire a wedding planner. It can be easy breezy or it can turn into a total nightmare in which you might turn into a bridezilla! You can get advise and tips from your friends and relative who have gotten married or you may have to rely on online resources for information. So here are some of the websites I find useful for brides-to-be in Malaysia.

He popped the question!

I was taken by surprised on 2017 New Year's day during our yearly Christmas gathering. And it was supposed to be a Christmas gathering and not New Year's day gathering. You'll see why later. My boyfriend finally had the courage to ask the four words although it had been quite many months since we discuss about marriage [Don't get me wrong he is the sweetest guy ever!]. We even been to a wedding fair and almost sign up for a pre-wedding photo shoot package!

The proposal was supposed to happen during our yearly gathering to devour turkey for Christmas. Unfortunately, the plan of having dinner on Christmas Eve which is my birthday was foiled. My future father-in-law had contracted H1N1B from Japan and had to be quarantine at home. The dinner was postponed to New Year's day then.

If it was not postponed, I would have already anticipated the whole proposal plan. You would not have guessed that my boyfriend was that dumb to tell me his plans. Anyway, we went to shop for the engagement ring together. Not a common practice but I think it is a great idea. The guy will be sure that the ring is something her style. More importantly, the tentative date to collect the ring was 31 December. I thought that he could not make his plans come true but I was wrong. He had secretly collected the ring even before my birthday. The plan would have worked out if wasn't for another unexpected incident.

During the week of my birthday, he told me that the ring store called him up telling that collection has to be delayed. I was really not expecting him to lie to me about it and that the ring was already been collected.

On New Year's day, I was lazy to dress up since it was just a gathering at his house. I totally regretted it and nothing can change that day anymore. When I first saw him, he was clad in his casual T-shirt and shorts as usual. Then he disappeared to nowhere but I thought he probably just went to the toilet to do a number two. What is a gathering without eating? I then proceed to take food from the table. It was then, he came out all dressed up with a bouquet of flowers with Mickey and Minnie. My mind went blank for a second. Questions began flooding into my head like a waterfall. I was stunned to see the ring. Reality hits back and I realized that I barely caught up with his speech.

All the questions I have been wondering throughout the week was answered. Why had the maid ironed a collared shirt. Why his family went out to mall after a tiring day coming back from Japan. Why the receipt of the ring was missing in his room.

My blog, mainly filled with food posts might take a sudden turn into a bride-to-be blog instead. I do hope that future brides or brides-to-be will find information I share in the near future to be useful as most information online are quite outdated and limited.

Alpacasso Cafe @ Aeon Mid Valley

Most girls are easily attracted to cutesy stuff. I am no different. Anything cute instantly catches my eyes for sure. Alpacasso Cafe is a hidden find inside Aeon Mid Valley. It is located at the kids' toy section near an escalator.

Tokyo Secret Cheese Tart Review

When you see a queue in front of a restaurant or a food stall, you know you have to try it. For the past few weeks, eager customers can be seen queuing up at Tokyo Secret in One Utama for their half baked cheese tarts. The store is located strategically near Mac Store, opposite Haagen Dazs. Their branch in Ikano or IPC however, has lesser customers and I did not even have to queue for my tart! So go for the Ikano branch one if you hate queuing!

This is a picture taken at Tokyo Secret One Utama where I first had my heavenly cheese tart.  For those planning to get their tarts from IPC, you can find their store outside of the Mac store.

Coming into Tokyo Secret IPC, I was quite surprised to see an empty store although I did spotted a girl carrying two Tokyo  Secret bags. The colour scheme of this outlet is the same with One Utama but this store feels much more comfortable.

Their cheese tarts are priced at RM7.90 per piece. Sorry but you don't get discount for buying more tarts. Pretty pricey eh? I also noticed that the IPC branch serves more than just tarts! There are affogatos and ice creams too. I guess I will try them out another day.

At Tokyo Secret, you can be assured that all tarts are fresh out of the oven. Here are the last four tarts left from the previous batch of tarts. Yes, you will have to wait for the next batch if they ran out of it. Do eat your tarts on the spot or it won't be as good later on.

The tarts are definitely bigger than your normal egg tarts. The pastry of the tart is crunchy but the cheese is so soft and melts in your mouth. I have no doubt that I will be coming back quite regularly for their tarts. It is AMAZING.

Seems like Tokyo Secret might face some competition soon as there is another cheese tart shop named Pablo that is under renovation in Old Wing One Utama. Also, there is Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart in Empire Subang which I am eager to try out. I can't get enough of them heavenly tarts!

Soft Launch Cafe @ Sri Petaling Review

The strawberry waffle craze have been on social media for quite awhile now and the cafe serving it is none other than Soft Launch Cafe located in Sri Petaling. I am a waffle lover so there is no excuse for me not to go there to try it out myself. Some cafe waffles that I enjoy includes Chequers and Frisky Goat in TTDI. Just like these two cafes, Soft Launch also serve savoury waffles.
